CASE STUDY

The Company:
Wellesley Little League is a non-profit organization that coordinates and manages the local Wellesley Youth Baseball & Softball teams.  With a majority of the staff being volunteers there was a need for good financial process and internal controls.

The Situation:
Wellesley Little League is a non-profit organization with a wide variety of accounting challenges including: restricted net assets, donations tracking, e-commerce systems, deferred registration fees, budgeting, customized financials and tracking fees per registrant.  When the treasurer and most of the members are volunteers, they need to ensure that their accounting has strong internal controls, accurate financials for budgeting/forecasting and ongoing support through the challenges they face in the accounting department.

The Solution:
“We chose SmartBooks as our outsourced accounting and bookkeeping solution because of their depth in working with non-profits. As a volunteer organization, we needed SmartBooks expertise to manage the day-to-day accounting functions and to help us overcome the financial management hurdles we face on a regular basis. The customized reports SmartBooks prepares on a monthly and annual basis allows me to confidently report to our Board of Directors our health, progress and strategy. Budgeting, which had always been a burden, is greatly simplified and presented in an easy to understand format allowing us to focus our time and energy where it matters most. Thanks to SmartBooks, we are able to maintain a successful and financially healthy non-profit.” – George Eldridge, treasurer of Wellesley Little League.
